Description

Forget the billions of dollars this war costs...Forget the domestic programs that have no funding..Forget the seniors without adequate health care...Forget the children who have no chance for a decent education...Forget the record deficit our children will be paying for....Remember the true cost of the failed foreign policy of a coward who went AWOL when his country asked for him to serve. Remember the true cost...remember our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers...all those who will never be a part of our families again. Remember their sacrifices made for a cause built upon lies to all of the world. Then ask yourself if it was worth it.

Due to the recent increased attention, I feel it is necessary to add to my previous comments. First, this photograph was taken at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. I had visited there to pay my respects to former Cmdr. Lloyd Bucher who was buried several days earlier. For those who do not know him, he was in command of the USS Pueblo when it was siezed by the North Koreans in 1968. He was a hero to me due to his actions which saved the lives of his crew. After I paid my respects, I wandered down the hillside and came across Cpl Kennedy's grave. I was overcome by the newness of his headstone and saddened by his loss at a very young age. My intention was to honor his sacrifice for his country. I believe it is my duty as a citizen of this great country to exercise my right of free speech. My rights guaranteed by the Constitution have been won by the actions of Cpl Kennedy and thousands of US soldiers before him and since. I am in debt to him and the rest of our fallen comrades. Is this a political statement? Yes. Is it meant to disrespect our troops? NO.
I am angered by the lies our current adminstration has used to try to justify its' misguided efforts to gain economic control of another region in the world. It angers me that our troops are put in harms' way by men who found ways to evade their own personal involvement in Vietnam for reasons known only to them. It was VP Dick Cheney who answered "I had more important things to do" when asked why he did not serve in the military. It was President Bush who went AWOL from the Texas Air National Guard. Our troops have been placed in harms' way by civilians who refused to follow the advice of our miltary leaders when this war was started. There were not enough troops committed, not enough supplies, and no thought given to what would be needed once the initial military action was completed. Like everything else the Bush administration has attempted, incompetence on the part of the civilian leadership has prevailed. I pray daily for our troops and hope all will come home safely. Sadly, I know that will not be the outcome. I am proud to be an American. I am proud of our troops. I wish I could be proud of our President and Congress, but I cannot. At all levels of our government, it has failed our troops. The only courage to be found these days is in our troops, God bless them. :flagus:

It is sad, but I guess history will view Bush has having to mop up after his predecessor's failure to deal with the global problem.
